Her work frequently protagonizes criminal underclasses, including squatters, graffiti artists, drug dealers, and other people outcast from society. Killjoy is outspoken about her anarchist politics and her antiauthoritarian politics are reflected in her fiction and nonfiction. The magazine focused on the countercultural currents within steampunk aesthetic and subculture, which proved controversial. Killjoy founded SteamPunk Magazine, which she edited throughout most of the 9 years of its publication. ![]()
